Royal Birkdale – British Open Host 10 times

Set in the dunes near Southport, Royal Birkdale offers one of the finest links layouts anywhere in the UK. The greens are magnificent as you would expect but they seem to have been dropped in to the natural dunescape. Good shots are well rewarded but being less than accurate with your approach shots will find you on the banks of the dunes with a tricky up and down.

Royal Lytham & St Annes – British Open Host 11 times

One of the toughest driving courses I have ever had the privilege to play! Formidable fairway bunkers truly the slightly off line tee shot. This is a golf course where you need to plot your way around, very often opting for the shorter club from the tee to avoid the bottle necks. World class “old greens” which as you walk on you feel the history and footsteps that have walked before you. One of the friendliest and welcoming clubhouses of all the Open venues, Royal Lytham is a must visit on your trip to North West England.

Royal Liverpool Golf Club – British Open Host 12 times

Recently returned to the Open Rota in 2014, the course plays out over the Hoylake flats of the Wirral estuary. The course features plenty of tall wispy fescues which frame the fairways of this gently undulating land. With several holes playing along the estuary the wind plays a major part in the challenge presented by Royal Liverpool.  The history and memorabilia on display in the clubhouse is worth a visit on its own.

The History in these clubs is nothing short of spectacular, and the challenge presented by the courses is second to none.
